And now...Actualize

I've been struggling with starting this blog for weeks now.  Not only am I so far behind when it comes to technology but my main issue with anything is the start up. So here I am... finally! (crickets chirping) So my question was do I make my first post just to post something.  Then I realized there is quite a bit going on here in my world.

The beginning of the week started out in a weird place. Tuesday at about 1:50 pm I was sitting downstairs in my sunroom setting up my new Singer. (yay!)  My desk looks out a sliding glass door onto my little veggie garden. A very tranquil spot to 'relax'.  After I wasted about half a spool of thread and 2 bobbins later, I was threaded and ready to roll.  I was right in the middle of ripping a seam out when the floor started moving, the desk was shaking and the house was rocking. I heard so many people say they had no clue what was going on til it was almost over. I knew almost immediately. And my baby girl was upstairs asleep. I know I must have taken 15-20 less steps than normally needed to get up there, get her and run back out of the house. Talk about panic. That was the weirdest mom instinct that I've ever experienced. I was literally 3 steps away from the door outside and turned without a thought and raced into the middle of possible danger to get to Nora. Needless to say we're all safe, no damage to anything.

Now we're awaiting something even more threatening - Hurricane Irene (dun dun DUN!).  Well, for us anyway. Living close to the beach definitely has it's perks but this is not one of them. Coastal flooding happens here with an unexpected downpour. Our tidal marsh lined road (which is the only road in) is in shambles, crumbling at the sides. Not to mention our house has flooded twice since we moved here 4 1/2 years ago. I guess we're due for another good soaking. So now we're prepping for Irene. I'm staying optimistic but being prepared never hurts. Hopefully I'll report back that it was nothing and I'll have something decent and fun to post on here next time. Fingers crossed!
